On April 1, Houston celebrates Kolache Shoppe Day, a tradition officially recognized in 2020 by Mayor Sylvester Turner to honor the bakery’s 50th anniversary.

Kolache Shoppe was included in Southern Living’s list of bakeries that keep culinary traditions alive with family recipes, handmade breads, and pastries that have been passed down for generations.

Recently, we had the honor of being featured in the Houston Chronicle, where we joined other local restaurants and bakeries to discuss how fusing unique flavors also fosters a sense of community.

Breakfast expectations are far exceeded at the Kolache Shoppe window, where hearty kolaches come in flavors like savory smokehouse venison and pork sausage or sweet lemon cream.

Only in Texas would a sausage-stuffed sweet bun be considered the perfect morning meal.

Kolache Shoppe opened its third location in Kingwood, featuring a dog-friendly patio outdoors and select tables indoors with a window for pick-up or grab-and-go orders.

Kolache Shoppe was included in Houston Chronicle’s list of the best places to get your kolache fix in Houston.

Whataburger is great, but there’s plenty more food to grab at pick-up windows in the city.
